On June 14th, NBC's Clash of Choirs alumna Liimu McGill will perform her 90-minute one-woman show, MomStar: From Madhouse to Malibu, at the VooDoo Lounge in Denver. Liimu, who is also the executive producer and star of YouTube reality series The Making of a MomStar, will bring her camera crew along as well to document the process and include it as part of an upcoming episode of the reality show.
In the stage show, which received a standing ovation at the world premiere performance in Los Angeles earlier this month, Liimu chronicles her journey of reconnecting with her childhood dream to be an actress and singer while balancing the challenges of being a mom to four children and the CEO of a million-dollar consulting business. Liimu currently manages her 3 daughters' budding careers in entertainment while running two thriving businesses. She lives with her family in Malibu, California.
Liimu is not the only mom looking for ways to reconnect with her dreams. In 2016, The Washington Post highlighted a growing movement among moms with small children to "take back" their passions while parenting. Liimu leads the pack with her YouTube series and stage show that are both notable for their inclusion of the principles of The Law of Attraction and an encouraging message of hope and possibility, a beacon amidst a sea of reality entertainment that relies on in-fighting and drama to draw in an audience.
In 2007, Liimu appeared as a soloist on NBC's Clash of Choirs reality competition show, singing a rendition of Jesus Take the Wheel for nearly 10 million live viewers with Patti LaBelle conducting.
The Making of a MomStar is available on Liimu's YouTube channel: MomStar.
