A red carpet life celebration for film star Tab Hunter will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 PM at the AC Gallery in Hollywood, where a series of life-size paintings of Hunter by famed video director Vance Lorenzini will be unveiled for the first time. Hunter's funeral was held in a private ceremony near his home in Montecito and this will mark the first public event to memorialize him. It will be hosted by Hunter's life partner of three decades, Allan Glaser.
Hunter died from cardiac arrest on July 8 at the age of 86 and was one of the top box-office stars of the 1950's and 60's. In later years, he co-starred with drag star Divine in two films, "Polyester" and "Lust in the Dust." He published his revealing memoir "Tab Hunter Confidential" in 2006, which wasa filmed as a documentary feature by Jeffrey Schwarz.
Lorenzini has produced and designed thousands of music videos and television commercials, as well as several feature films and TV projects. He has created music videos for such artists as Madonna, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Staind, Elton John, Prince, Snoop Dogg, ZZ Top, Puddle of Mudd, Nine Inch Nails, Eminem, Limp Bizkit, and Aerosmith. He has been recognized with numerous awards for artistic excellence and his collective work has been honored by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Lorenzini has focused on nearly 20 images of Hunter for this new showing of his paintings. The event on Oct. 6 will be open from 6 PM till 11 PM and the exhibit itself will run through Nov. 28.
