The new work will be performed in Adelaide, South Australia, with a stream of the work being beamed across the planet to Edinburgh and Hollywood Fringe.
Acclaimed choreographer Lewis Major is presenting the world premiere of his new work, Spaces Between Us, his seventh self-produced dance work this year, alongside excerpts of his celebrated dance piece Satori in a special co-production with Black Box Live this coming week.
Following sold out seasons at Adelaide Festival and Adelaide Fringe earlier in the year, Major says that he is humbled to be creating work at this precarious time for the Australian arts industry. "I feel incredibly privileged to be creating new work right now, in a room with actual living, breathing, sweating bodies. With so many of our colleagues and friends locked down right now and shows and tours still being cancelled, our hearts are breaking for the state of our industry across the globe." "My sincere thanks to Joanne and Tom, and the whole Black Box Live crew for creating a way for us to share our art amidst so much chaos in the world."Hollywood Fringe will require Proof of Vaccination against COVID-19 OR a Negative COVID-19 test (within 72 hours) along with a government-issued photo ID in order to attend any in-person Hollywood Fringe event.
Satori and Spaces Between Us is performed by Major's longstanding collaborators, fellow South Australian dance artists Clementine Benson, Stefaan Morrow and Sarah Wilson.
