In 2013, Leigh Ann Larkin and Shayne Kennon starred in the Atlanta production of Harmony. Today, March 4, they will get to reprise their roles when it opens at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre in LA.
Leigh Ann Larkin's stage credits include Petra in Broadway's 2009 Revival of A Little Night Music and Dainty June in Broadway's 2008 revival of Gypsy. She also played June in a 2007 Off-Broadway Revival and appeared in 2004 in a world premiere US tour of On the Record. Shayne Kennon was a part of the European tour of Madagascar.
Harmony is a musical, with composition by Barry Manilow and book by Bruce Sussman. This production is directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Tony Speciale.
Harmony tells the true story of The Comedian Harmonists, an ensemble of six young men in pre-WWII Germany who rose from unemployed street musicians to become world-famous entertainers, selling millions of records, starring in over a dozen films, and selling out the most prestigious concert halls around the world. Yet while The Comedian Harmonists' sophisticated music, paired with hilarious comedy, made them the brightest of stars, the group's mixture of Jews and non-Jews put them on a collision course with history.
When Manilow and Sussman began writing Harmony, Roman Cykowski was the only surviving member of The Comedian Harmonists. Shayne Kennon will be portraying the character of Cykowski in Harmony. The other cast members are Matt Bailey, Will Blum, Hannah Corneau, Chris Dwan, Will Taylor, and Douglas Williams. Members of the ensemble include Liberty Cogen, Bryan Thomas Hunt, Greg Kamp, Chad Lindsey, Lindsay Moore, Brandon O'Dell, Patrick O'Neill, Charles Osborne, Kim Sava, Dave Schoonover, and Lauren Elaine Taylor.
