La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts kicks off its 2014-15 Programs for Young Audiences series with Boxtales Theatre Company's The Odyssey: Heroic Tales From Greek Mythology. This 60-minute exciting, story-filled adventure is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up. Performances are Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The Odyssey features virtuosic storytelling, circus arts, enchanting masks, and exhilarating live music in an exciting theatrical telling of the classic tale! Greek hero Odysseus tells of his ten-year journey home from the Trojan War. His encounters with Poseidon, Athena, Zeus, the Cyclops, the Sirens and many other adventures are presented in the classic and fun Boxtales style.
BOXTALES THEATRE COMPANY is an energetic theatre troupe, which uses masks, movement, storytelling and live music to present myths and folklore from around the world. Actors
Matthew Tavianini, Marie Ponce and Michael Andrews combine their diverse talents to create a professional, high energy, highly interactive theatrical experience for young audiences.
La Mirada Theatre's Programs for Young Audiences is designed to give children exposure to a diverse mix of national and international touring stage acts while enriching their lives. The season will continue with The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley on February 15, 2015, The Disney Channel's Choo-Choo Soul with Genevieve! on June 28, 2015, and Troubadour Theater Company's Funky Punks on August 9, 2015.
All seats are $10 for children and $15 for adults. Subscriptions for all four shows are $30 for children and $45 for adults.
