La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts continues its 2014-15 Programs for Young Audiences series with Dallas Children's Theater on Tour's The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley. This 60-minute, fun-filled musical adventure is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up. Performances are Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley - the ultimate exchange student - scours the globe to do something the world has never seen before, and learns that heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Stanley is your ordinary, everyday, run-of-the-mill ten-year old, and for Stanley, life is too normal. He wants to do something amazing, something no one?s ever seen before. So, he makes a wish to travel the world. That night, the bulletin board on the wall above Stanley?s bed comes loose and falls - right on top of him. The next morning, Stanley Lambchop wakes up flat. Not just a little flat...really, really flat! Thus begins his quest to see the world, which comes surprisingly easy when you can travel through the postal system as a letter! He thwarts a robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris and surfs off the coast of Hawaii. He?s stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond. Once Stanley realizes that great adventures aren?t as special without his family around to share in the joy and excitement, he wishes to become a three-dimensional boy once again.
Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, Jeff Brown's beloved children's book, "Flat Stanley," was written in 1964 and has become a literary and pop cultural phenomenon. The musical stage adaptation was published in 2008 and has been hitting the Theater for Young Audiences circuit to critical acclaim. "What I love about the show are all the teachable moments that don't feel like lessons," says guest director Michael Serrecchia, who returns to Dallas Children's Theater following his success with the main-stage production of Flat Stanley. "It's a fun, Broadway-style musical comedy about the value of being different and the importance of family."

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley features Lyrics by Timothy Allen McDonald and Jonathan K. Waller; Music by David Weinstein, Jonathan K. Waller, Timothy Allen McDonald and Stephen Gabriel; and is based on the book FLAT STANLEY by Jeff Brown. The Producer/Tour Director is Sally Fiorello, the Director/Choreographer is Michael Serrecchia, Musical Direction is by Adam C. Wright, Scenic Design is by Bob Lavallee, Lighting Design is by Jason Lynch, Costume Design is by Lyle Huchton, Sound Design is by Marco Salinas, Video Design is by H. Bart McGeehon, and the Stage Manager is John Michael Moss II.
