L.A. Theatre Works (LATW), in a partnership with Wondery cultivated by Golden Citizen Entertainment, is today announcing the launch of its scripted podcast series, The Play's The Thing.
The Play's The Thing will feature LATW's notable, recent dramatic productions. The series will be hosted by Susan Loewenberg and will spotlight a variety of prominent plays throughout the season. The premiere episodes focus on Becky Shaw, the Off-Broadway comedy hit about a series of cataclysmic events stemming from a blind date.
L.A. Theatre Works is dedicated to the distribution of classical and Contemporary Theatre to the public, as their audio theatre collection is the largest of its kind in the world, and their partnership with Wondery will offer access to millions of new listeners.
LATW Producing Director Susan Loewenberg says "We're delighted to partner with Wondery to bring our fantastic audio plays to the widest possible audience. We've curated a selection of edgy, modern work with talent such as Sarah Drew from Grey's Anatomy, Josh Stamberg from The Affair, and Brittany Snow from Pitch Perfect, who help us bring to life the words of contemporary playwrights. From the chaotic family in Pulitzer Prize finalist Becky Shaw, to the couple finding romance in higher math in Completeness, to the courageous title character in the gender identity drama Boy, we know you'll love what you hear."
The Play's The Thing will premiere on Tuesday, February 7th on Wondery's Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape thread for a special launch. The episode will then be available on an individual thread for The Play's The Thing on Thursday, February 9th, with new episodes to be released every Thursday following.
The Play's The Thing joins the Wondery network as the most recent partner among such shows as Sword and Scale, Innovation Crush, and Not By Accident. Wondery is also home to the critically claimed original series FOUND, Hollywood & Crime, Terms, and Secrets, Crimes & Audiotape.
