LA Opera will present an intimate concert by the renowned French Baroque ensemble Les Talens Lyrique, led by its founder Christophe Rousset. The performance will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 11, at Zipper Hall, located on the campus of The Colburn School (200 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA, 90012).
The concert celebrates the 350th anniversary of the birth of composer François Couperin (1668-1733), one of the greatest masters of French Baroque music. The featured performers are Christophe Rousset (conductor, harpsichord, organ), Gilone Gaubert-Jacques (violin), Mikko Perkola (viola da gamba), Amel Brahim-Djellou (soprano) and Eugénie Warnier (soprano). The program includes Couperin's Concerts royaux (third suite), Pièces de viole (first suite), Leçons de Ténèbres du Mercredi Saint and selections from Second Livre de pieces de clavecin.
The concert has been added to LA Opera's 2018/19 season as part of the company's Off Grand initative, dedicated to exploring unusual repertoire with performances in a variety of venues throughout Los Angeles.
