The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is accepting applications for the 2014-16 Civic Artists Pre-Qualified List. The list is referenced to select artists for upcoming public art opportunities throughout the County. Exceptional professional emerging and established artists and artists teams working in all types of visual media including 2D and 3D, temporary public art and public engagement who live in Los Angeles County are encouraged to apply. Guidelines and application are available at lacountyarts.org/thelist. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, October 16, 2013.

The Arts Commission manages a diverse range of civic art projects across the 4,000 square miles and 88 municipalities of Los Angeles County. These projects are managed in coordination with County departments who are dedicated to facilitating innovative projects that add meaning and beauty to County facilities and deepen the pride of communities surrounding and served by the project areas. It is anticipated that approximately 15 new civic art projects will be initiated each year with budgets ranging in size from $30,000 up to $1,000,000. A panel of nationally recognized arts professionals will select a roster of artists for the Civic Artists Pre-Qualified List. Artists will remain on the list for a period of two years, from 2014-2016. In addition, the list will be used as a resource for curatorial research by reputable public art programs across the nation.

Five optional workshops will be held throughout the County between September 18 and October 3for interested artists to explain the application system and provide tips on producing an effective application packet. Space is limited for each workshop. For detailed information and to register, visit lacountyarts.org/thelist.
