This winter, the Geffen Playhouse is doing its part to spread contagious holiday cheer by presenting Neil Berg's critically acclaimed musical revue Broadway Holiday. Direct from New York, Broadway alumni Marc Kudisch (9 to 5, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Assassins), Rob Evan (Les Miserables, Jekyll and Hyde), Rita Harvey (Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof), Carter Calvert (It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues, CATS) and Ron Bohmer (Ragtime, Phantom of The Opera, Sunset Boulevard), along with musical director Neil Berg and a three piece band, will take audiences on a journey through Broadway history with the music of Kander & Ebb, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and many more. Broadway Holiday begins performances on December 17, 2010 and has a three week run ending on January 2, 2011.
Neil Berg's Broadway Holiday features hits ranging from classic shows such as My Fair Lady and South Pacific, through ground breakers like West Side Story and Chicago, to current blockbusters like Jersey Boys, and Wicked. The show will also feature much loved holiday tunes, and - just to ensure the evening includes the true audience favorites - patrons will have a chance to vote on the song selection with "Show of Hands for Show Tunes." Through this online contest, the Geffen Playhouse will be taking votes from the public to choose one holiday song and one Broadway standard to be added to the program of the show.
