Suzanna Melendez and Acts of Charity present the hit Broadway musical Cabaret, benefiting Performing Arts Leadership Scholarships (P.A.L.S.) - the fundraising arm of Class Act Musical Theatre (www.classacttheatre.net). During the October 22 and 23 performances, Kris Jenner (Keeping Up with the Kardashians) will lead this talented ensemble as Fraulien Kost, in the musical that took over Broadway in the late 60's, about Berlin's steamy, colorful Kit Kat Klub, on the eve of Hitler's rise to power in Weimer Germany.
As performing arts budgets in schools around the country continue to diminish, Class Act P.A.L.S. provides scholarships to children with a passion for the performing arts but without the financial means to be part of a theatre program. This non-profit organization relies on ticket sales and charitable donations to be able to stage productions that pair talented teens with brilliant working professional actors.
To help celebrate the company's first performance, join on-air radio personality Lisa Foxx (Star 101.3-SF, 104.3MYfm-LA & Star 941 San Diego) on Friday, October 22 at 5:30pm as she hosts a pre-show "Show-Tune" karaoke party. Food will be made available during the pre-show festivities by Jose O'Malley's American & Mexican Cuisine food truck. This imaginative food truck not only supplies delicious cuisine, but additionally offers themed nights, including hula-hoop contests, face painting for kids, standup comedy, a nightly light show and the chance to "Sing For Your Supper." For more information, please visit www.joseomalleys.com.
Shows will be performed on October 22-24 @ 7pm, and November 5-7 @ 7pm. Tickets for Cabaret range from $25 - $100 and are available to purchase online HERE or by calling (818) 703-6364. The Class Act Musical Theatre is located at 5345 Wilhelmina Ave., Woodland Hills, California.
About Class Act Musical Theatre:
Class Act Musical Theatre was founded by Yariv Sponko, whose passion for theatre began as a teen, and continued as he learned the business and eventually became the sole owner. The theatre has been a haven for children for the past twenty-five years, giving them a safe and creative space to express themselves. Whether it is singing, dancing, acting or working behind the scenes the kids have a creative space to learn, grow and develop their talents further.
About Acts of Charity:
A charity group, Acts of Charity scours the state looking for community theaters that are in need of financial aid. Acts of Charity helps raise money for specific upgrades to improve the acting environment of a community theater as well as awarding financial scholarships to children who live to be a part of a theater program but cannot afford the tuition. The charity is run by
Suzanna Melendez and Jill Froch with the help and support of many brilliant working professional actors, who give their time to help create an a performance for the community. The actors believe in the cause 100% and give their time, working side by side with teen actors, giving them an unequaled professional acting experience. All proceeds are given back to the theater.
