Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will present the West Coast premiere of DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, the second performance of their 2013-2014 season at the Moss Theatre at New Roads School in Santa Monica. The one-night-only concert will take place on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 7:00 pm.

Joining the creative team is Peggy Hickey, fresh from her Broadway choreographic debut for the critically acclaimed GENTLEMEN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER and actor Joe Hart who just returned from the national tour of PRICILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT. Hart replaces the previously announced Kevin Symons in the role of Duke Vittorio Lamberti.

Based on the 1929 play, with a lush score by Maury Yeston (NINE, TITANIC), Death is sick to, well, death of being everyone's dreaded final visitor. He takes a weekend off and assumes a human guise to mingle with mortals and understand human emotion. During his "vacation", he falls in love with an engaged young woman and learns about love and sacrifice. DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY received eleven 2011-2012 Drama Desk Award Nominations, including Best Musical and Time Magazine ranked the show among the best of the year.

The cast, comprised of all Musical Theatre Guild company members, features: Teri Bibb, Melissa Lyons Caldretti, Dan Callaway, Doug Carfrae, Will Collyer, Misty Cotton, Melissa Fahn, Helen Geller, Pamela Hamill, Joe Hart, Ashley Fox Linton, Erik McEwen, Todd Nielsen and Sam Zeller. DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY will be directed by Calvin Remsberg with musical direction by James May, choreography by Peggy Hickey and is under the production supervision of Kim Huber and Heather Hoppus-Werner.
