The Laguna Playhouse has elected Jerry Mandel and Cody Engle to its board of trustees.
“We are delighted to welcome these experienced non-profit board leaders to our organization,” said Henry Mayhew, Chairman of the Laguna Board of Trustees of The Playhouse. “They will add significant contributions as we move the theatre in new and exciting directions in the performing arts.”
Jerry Mandel has served as President and CEO of the Orange County Performing Arts Center, as Vice Chancellor – Advancement, UCI; as Vice President – Advancement, CSU-LB; and as Dean of the Arts at San Diego State University. He holds board affiliations and has a history with the Orange County High School of the Arts (Board Chair), Irvine Barclay Theater, Balboa Performing Arts Center, National Advisory Board for Jazz at Lincoln Center, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Tiger Woods Foundation, Chapman University and Pacific Oaks College.
S. Cody Engle focused for 35 years on real estate and corporate turnarounds and restructuring-ranging from apartment communities to shopping malls, and cruise lines to nursing homes. He then brought those skills to the non-profit sector working to instill an entrepreneurial approach in a non-profit setting. Cody is a founder of Open Door Advisors, a consultancy focusing on ‘social enterprises’. He has consulted nationally and internationally. Cody brings extensive board experience to the Laguna Playhouse including Victory Gardens Theater, Chicago IL Board of Directors (current Treasurer); Laguna Live! Board of Directors; University of Michigan Institute for the Humanities, Board of Visitors (Chair), University of Illinois/Chicago –Institute for Psychoanalysis Board of Directors; ReBuilding Exchange, a project of The Delta Institute, Board of Directors.
