Jazz Singer Andy James Makes L.A. Concert Debut with The Legendary Bill Cunliffe and Johnny Coppola ImagePata Productions will present Andy James, at Rockwell Table & Stage for one special performance on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 8 p.m.

Andy James is a jazz singer reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan with a twist of Billie Holiday. Partial to those great recordings that her mother played when she was growing up in Melbourne, Australia, Andy now recreates them with a flawless and loving fidelity, all the while injecting an up-to-the-minute vibe.

Andy will be presenting tracks from her first two albums, "Caravan" and "All the Lovely Things You Are." Recorded at Capitol Records in November 2016, "All the Lovely Things You Are" is an extravagantly sumptuous big band collection of Golden Age songs arranged by the legendary Grammy Award-winning Bill Cunliffe and filled out by some of the best musicians in Los Angeles. Andy will perform renditions of classic numbers that are rejuvenated in her signature style, including "The Shadow of Your Smile," "You Go to My Head," and "Black Coffee," to name a few.

Introducing Andy in her Los Angeles concert debut is longtime Capitol Records executive Johnny Coppola. Johnny ignited a singing career of his own, beginning in 1999, when he was asked to perform "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" on the Capitol Records Employee Christmas album. Performing originals written in the vain of Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Johnny has gone on to release two solo albums. He has also had his music placed in television and film, all alongside a robust live performance schedule in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Bill Cunliffe will head the band of eight musicians while also conducting and playing keyboard on the fantastic charts he has arranged. In addition to these heavy hitters, Josh Connolly (Grammy Award-nominated recording engineer), Zeffin Quinn Hollis (vocal director), and Piero Pata (producer) round out Andy's spectacular team.

Australian jazz singer Andy James began her artistic life as a flamenco dancer studying in Madrid, later basing her European dancing career there. As a flamenco dancer, she has worked with the absolute best in the business, including Paco de Lucia, Lucky Losada, Tito Losada, Antonio Canales and Rafael Amargo. A musician as well as a dancer from the very beginning, Andy also played the electric bass, and she was most famously a part of the band for the two-year Australian National Tour of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" with a young Russell Crowe performing a role and covering Frank-N-Furter! This naturally progressed to a singing career specializing in the music she knows and loves the most. Andy has always been at home in the studio, embodying the style of greats while also adding her own je ne sais quoi. She has recorded two albums and two EPs in just under a year.
