The McCallum Theatre presents Jason Petty tonight, October 24, at 8:00pm. Jason, who wowed the McCallum audience with his portrayal of Hank Williams, is back with a new show Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes. Hear the great songs of country music legends like Jimmie Rodgers, Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb, George Jones and, of course, Hank Williams in this energetic show!

Jason Petty was born and raised in Manchester, Tennessee, and spent his summers growing up on his grandmother's farm in Primm Springs, Tennessee. His father and grandmother influenced his early musical preferences. Jason's earliest memories are of his grandmother, Fannie Mayberry, singing gospel songs around the farm while she worked, and his dad, Jim Petty, singing Hank Williams' hit song, "Hey Good Lookin'" to him when he was just a boy.

Jason began his career 50 miles from the farm at Nashville's Opryland music park. Performing four shows a day, seven days a week, he caught the attention of the director of an upcoming musical at the Ryman Auditorium. He was hand-picked for the starring role in Hank Williams: Lost Highway and it led him straight to the stage, where he has been ever since.

Jason made a striking impression on New York's Theatre District, starring in Hank Williams: Lost Highway which played to sold out audiences at the Little Shubert Theater. Audiences and critics alike were impressed with his amazing acting ability in his portrayal of Hank Williams. He won rave reviews from all the major critics, including the New York Times, Variety and Rolling Stone. The New York Post stated it best, "At times it seems as if Petty is not just offering an impersonation of Williams, but channeling his ghost." Another sign of recognition for Jason's brilliant performance of Hank Williams was being honored with an Obie Award for Outstanding Actor.

This veteran actor and singer has performed in theatres across the United States, Canada and Europe. Jason began portraying country music legend Hank Williams in 1996 and, since that time, he has appeared in national tours of Lost Highway and Honky Tonk Heroes, a musical revue which Jason authored and starred.

Jason's acting ability has afforded him roles in film, television and theatre. His musicianship and song writing abilities have earned numerous performances on "The Grand Ole Opry" and the honor of being invited to perform with distinguished songwriters and producers at the Blue Bird Café in Nashville.

The McCallum Theatre presents Jason Petty and Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes on Saturday, October 24, at 8:00pm. Tickets are $52, $42, $32 and $22 and are available at the Theatre's web site at www.mccallumtheatre.com, or by calling the McCallum Theatre box office at (760) 340-ARTS.
