Jamie Adkins' one-man circus comedy, "Circus INcognitus" begins performances Saturday, January 15 at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre. The special treat for families and children runs for six public performances only through January 23, 2011, as part of DouglasPlus programming.
"Circus INcognitus," is a show filled with hilarious circus hi-jinks and zany acrobatics as the audience follows Jamie on an adventure about having the courage to try new ideas and not giving up when all goes wrong. "Circus INcognitus" is part of DouglasPlus programming.
Jamie Adkins began his career at the age of 16, after being inspired by the street performers of San Diego's Balboa Park. Adkins went on to join the Pickle Family Circus where he taught himself slack-rope (or, as he calls it, "the wire thing"). In 1998 he joined Québec's Cirque Éloize as the sole American member of the company for the production Excentricus.
The production design is by Amanda Russell, lighting design by Nicolas Descoteaux, costume design by Katrin Leblond, music composition and arrangement by Lucie Cauchon.
The six performances of "Circus INcognitus" take place Saturdays, January 15 and 22 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Sundays, January 16 and 23 at 3 p.m. (Student matinees for CTG's Young Audiences Program will be held January 18-21 and January 25-28.)
