JPAS Children's Choirs Still Enrolling and Accepting New Members

Calling all young singers! Jefferson Performing Arts Society is currently still accepting children and teens for their Children's Choirs and the NEW JPAS Jam & Jive Show Choir! To register and join, please drop by a rehearsal time for the appropriate age level choir to fill-out the paperwork and meet the choirs! (*formerly the JPAS Youth Chorale). All choirs are vocally directed by Mary Lou Fuenzalida with accompanist Garrett Fried. CApprentice Choir are at
Children grades 3-7th are invited to join the JPAS Children's Chorus. Children in grades 1 and 2 are invited to join the JPAS Apprentice Choir. Both choirs participate in annual Holiday and Spring Concerts in addition to other special events and performances throughout the year!

Rehearsals for the JPAS Children's Choir are Thursdays from 5:45PM-7PM at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, EJ High School Auditorium, 400 Phlox Street in Metairie, and continue through the Spring. There is a one-time tuition fee of $400 for the Children's Choir plus additional costuming fees. Rehearsals for the JPAS Apprentice Choir will be Saturdays from 1:30PM-2:30PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School, 4119 Saint Elizabeth Drive in Kenner and continue through the Spring. There is a one-time tuition fee of $300 for the Apprentice Choir plus additional costuming fees.

Teens and young adults ages 13-20 years are invited to join the inaugural season of the JPAS JAM & JIVE Show Choir*. As seen in the popular TV show GLEE, the JPAS JAM & JIVE Show Choir is a combination of high-energy movement and dancing with great vocal harmonies. More than singing in a group, JPAS JAM & JIVE Show Choir features dance and movement as an integral part of performances held at various venues and events throughout the 2009-2010 school year. Young singers and dancers of all skill levels are welcome!
JPAS JAM & JIVE rehearsals are Thursdays from 7PM-8:30PM at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, EJ High School Auditorium, 400 Phlox Street in Metairie, and continue through the Spring. One-time tuition fee for all members is $400 plus additional costuming expenses. *Please note, JPAS Youth Chorale for those in grades 8-12 will not be in session this year - former Youth Chorale members are strongly encouraged to join the new JPAS JAM & JIVE!

The Jefferson Performing Arts Society Children's Chorus and Youth Chorale have been cultivating young voices in song for over 20 years. The JPAS children's choirs welcome singers who want to develop their singing skills, explore different genres of music, and have fun performing for others. Each year the choirs perform throughout Jefferson and Orleans and often tour to regional and national festivals. Programs include seasonal music, art music of the masters, contemporary hits, Broadway show tunes, traditional choral works, and folk classics. The choral repertoire performed is selected to teach, challenge, and motivate the students. Choir Director Mary Lou Fuenzalida is a Kodály-certified teacher and has been directing award-winning choirs for over twenty years.
