Boys & Girls Clubs of America will honor Club members and Club alum and announce the 2018 Pacific Youth of the Year at their annual Youth of the Year Gala on July 12, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The evening will feature a special performance by Aliyah Moulden, The Voice Season 12 finalist, from Boys & Girls Clubs of La Habra. Andrew Tennenbaum, President at Flashpoint Entertainment, and Dean A. Spanos, Controlling Owner and Chairman of the Board, Los Angeles Chargers, will chair this annual event which has been held in Los Angeles for more than 28 years. Actor/Comedian and Boys & Girls Club Alumnus JB Smoove will emcee the program.
The gala will also feature the 2017 Pacific Region Youth of the Year Cassidy L. and the nine Pacific Youth of the Year candidates, who will share their experiences relating to academic success, good character, citizenship and healthy lifestyles which they've accomplished participating in programs at Boys & Girls Clubs.
One teen will be named the 2018 Pacific Youth of the Year among several finalists from across the region. The Pacific Youth of the Year will receive a $10,000 college scholarship renewable for up to four years, leading to a total of $40,000. With a 71-year history, Boys & Girls Clubs of America's premier youth leadership program Youth of the Year recognizes outstanding contributions to a member's family, school, community and Boys & Girls Club. The leadership program encourages Club members to reach their full potential by achieving academic success, leading healthy lifestyles and contributing to their communities.
The Youth of the Year recognition program is presented by The Walt Disney Company, who has supported Boys & Girls Clubs of America for more than 50 years, empowering young people to reach their full potential and providing youth with access to the tools they need to build the great futures they imagine.
