Meet the AJA XXII Artists
Currently on exhibit in the JACCC's George J. Doizaki Gallery through Sunday, November 8, AJA XXII examines the influence of diverse cultures and the individual that emerges as a result. The pieces on exhibit are an expression of cross-cultural influences, including Cambodian, Chinese, Japanese and American. The exhibit features diverse media including painting, installation pieces, film and pop culture.
Artists Tomo Isoyama and Sayon Syprasoeuth will be in the Doizaki Gallery this Saturday, October 24 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Sylvia Tan, Ichiro Irie and Gil Kuno will be present on Sunday, October 25 from 11 a.m. to discuss their work with gallery-goers.

Rhapsody in Taps
Under the Artistic Direction of Linda Sohl-Ellison, Rhapsody in Tapsâ dancers and musicia ns return to Little Tokyo with a unique visual and musical event. Recognized for its choreographic invention and tap legacy projects, Rhapsody In Taps has been a significant contributor to the worldwide resurgence of tap dance.
This season, Rhapsody In Taps is pleased to present four world premieres: Chugarump, Drop Da Beat, Wade and a new solo by tap phenomenon "fast feet" Bob Carroll, plus many audience favorites. Rhapsody In Taps will also present the West Coast premiere of Thinking on Their Feet: Women of the Tap Renaissance by Jenai Cutcher.

12th Century Anime Workshop
On the Veranda Series
Contemporary Japanese Anime dates back to the 12th Century when characters were painted in sumi (ink) on scrolls so that the story would unfold with each advancing twist. In this informative and fun lecture/workshop, attendees will learn how to draw these 12th Century Anime characters with brush and ink.

An Evening with Orhan Pamuk
This event is part of [ALOUD] and is a JACCC co-presentation with the Library Foundation of Los Angeles
In announcing the 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Swedish Academy said of Orhan Pamuk: his "quest for the melancholic soul of his native city, Istanbul, led him to discover new symbols for the clash and interlacing of cultures." Pamuk reads from his new novel, The Museum of Innocence, and discusses his life and work with writer and scholar Reza Aslan.
Signed copies of Orhan Pamuk's new novel, The Museum of Innocence, will be available for purchase courtesy of The Library Store with proceeds benefiting the Los Angeles Public Library.
