The special advance Los Angeles screening of The Rendezvous, the new adventure thriller starring Stana Katic (Castle, Absentia) and Raza Jaffrey (Homeland, Code Black), followed by an interfaith panel discussion to benefit reGeneration will take place April 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Laemmle Royal Theater, in West Los Angeles. Proceeds from the fundraiser support reGeneration's work to promote quality early childhood in crisis zones and disadvantaged communities. Partners in the reGeneration benefit include Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Muslim Public Affairs Council, and NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change.

In this PG-13 romantic adventure filmed in Jordan, Rachel, a Jewish-American doctor, and Jake, a Muslim-American U.S. State Department agent, come together in a perilous quest to solve the mysterious death of Rachel's biblical archeologist brother and stumble onto a conspiracy that could plunge the world into a real Armageddon.
Said writer/producer Tricia Gibbs: "In the new America of today, fear and prejudice are seizing the public imagination, destroying our dream of the United States as a place to realize the promise of democracy. This is not a new problem, and yet, in this age of increasing fear of the 'other,' discriminatory immigration orders, deportations, and isolationism, it is more pressing than ever. We desperately need new narratives to open our eyes and our minds to how things could be, if only we were free from the tyranny of the stories that have enslaved us; stories that pit us in wars against one another, and divide us as antagonists, groups of insiders and outsiders, chosen and damned."
The post-screening interfaith panel on the power of the narrative to build solidarity and solutions will also explore some of the timely issues covered by the film including extremism, prejudice, and narrative perspectives. Panelists include Amin Matalqa, Director of The Rendezvous; Tricia Gibbs, MD (pen name Sarah Isaias) author and producer of The Rendezvous; Sue Obeidi, Director of the Hollywood Bureau, Muslim Public Affairs Council; Joshua Holo, dean of HUC-JIR, Los Angeles; Aziza Hasan, Director of NewGround: Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. Shepha Schneirsohn Vainstein, President of reGeneration, will moderate the panel.
