Inland Valley Repertory Theatre company is making education come alive for high school freshmen studying Romeo and Juliet in English class. The theater company is producing the Shakespeare tragedy onstage at the Candlelight Pavilion September 25 through October 9, 2013.

IVRT recently received a grant from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and has hired David McCormick from the Orange County's Chance Theater as fight director for the production, which is directed by IVRT Artistic Director Terre Gunkel. Gunkel says of the play: "I think it is a story about PASSION: passion uncontrolled - its wounds and destructive force; passion controlled - its benefits and rewards; passion ignored - its consequences and costs."

The cast of 30 includes IVRT company member Amanda Minano as Juliet, IVRT company member Michael Buczynski as Friar Lawrence, and company members Debbie Brown and Cindy Smith in the ensemble. Tickets are being made available to students at a discount. In addition, IVRT is working with teachers to offer a question and answer session with students, actors and directors.

Performances of Romeo and Juliet are open to the public Wednesdays, September 25, October 2 and 9 at 7:30pm, with a matinee at 2:30pm on October 9th. Ticket prices are $25 reserved seating. Discount student tickets are available by calling (909) 859-IVRT. Regular tickets are available by phone (909) 626-1254 or online at www.IVRT.org. No dinner is served at IVRT productions; bar service and dessert menu are available.
