India Adams and Annette Warren, whose voices have entertained generations of moviegoers in such MGM classics as "Show Boat" and "The Band Wagon," will bring their new show "Hollywood's Secret Singing Stars" to the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood tonight and tomorrow, June 26 and 27 at 8:30 PM.

Adams and Warren have each had their own long and successful careers in nightclubs, on records, TV and stage, but what ties them together is that back in the Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals, they were both known as secret "ghost singers," providing the unbilled vocals for movie stars unable to sing.

India Adams sang for Cyd Charisse in 1953's "The Band Wagon," considered one of the greatest film musicals of all time, in which she not only performed the vocal track for the Arthur Schwartz-Howard Dietz standard "New Sun in the Sky," but also got to join Fred Astaire for a duet of "That's Entertainment". She then sang for Joan Crawford in the Technicolor hit "Torch Song," with songs including "Tenderly" and "Two-Faced Woman". Adams has recorded for MGM and RCA Victor Records and her CD's include "Comfort Me With Apples," "India Adams Sings" and "India Adams Sings Again". She has been seen at New York's Latin Quarter and Radio City Music Hall and in such stage musicals as "Can-Can," "The Most Happy Fella" and "Brigadoon," as well as the London production of "Mame" at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. She currently has a leading dramatic role in the new film "Fake".

Annette Warren was discovered by famed vocal coach and arranger Phil Moore, with whom she made her first recordings. She headlined top New York nightclubs including the Blue Angel and the St. Regis Maisonette, as well as at major hotels and clubs in London and across the U.S. She also co-starred as Mrs. Peachum in the long-running off-Broadway hit "The Threepenny Opera" with Jerry Orbach, Ed Asner and Beatrice Arthur. In addition to her many solo albums, she was signed to sing for Lucille Ball in both "Fancy Pants" and "Sorrowful Jones," and won the much sought-after job singing for Ava Gardner in the 1951 classic "Show Boat". Her versions of "Bill" and "Can't Help Lovin' That Man" are still considered definitive today. Warren was married for 55 years to world-famous jazz pianist Paul Smith, with whom she often appeared and recorded.

"Hollywood's Secret Singing Stars" features musical director Paul Horner on piano, Jim DiJulio on bass and Alex Smith on drums.

The Catalina Jazz Club is located at 6725 Sunset Blvd, in Hollywood. The phone for reservations is 323-466-2210.
