INDEPENDENT SHAKESPEARE CO. is thrilled to announce that its critically-acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare's ROMEO & JULIET, directed by Independent Shakespeare Co.'s Artistic Director Melissa Chalsma is RETURNING to the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival for three performances in September following MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.
All performances of THE GRIFFITH PARK FREE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL are FREE to the public! MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING plays through August 30 and ROMEO & JULIET will extend the festival through September 6.
Adolescent bliss spins out of control in this imaginative and surprising staging of the most famous love story ever told. This new adaptation incorporates an original rock score and design that is equal parts fairy tale and punk. Erika Soto and Nikhil Pai (in the title roles) lead a cast of Independent Shakespeare Co.'s most popular performers. They combine the textual clarity ISC is known for with a passionate and athletic physicality to create a Romeo and Juliet that explodes off the Griffith Park stage.
Comments Independent Shakespeare Co.'s Artistic Director, Melissa Chalsma, "We have been blown away by the tremendous audience reception to our production of Romeo and Juliet. For the first time we are extending the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival to satisfy all the people who wanted to see more performances of our production."
ROMEO & JULIET is RETURNING to the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park for three performances: Thursday, September 4, Friday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 at 7pm. All ISC Summer Shakespeare productions are FREE to the public.
