For the first time in the history of the Academy of Magical Arts, The Magic Castle, hosts an "All Women Magic Week." Producer Dale Hindman has secured some of the finest female magician performers for the occasion. Included among those who have successfully conquered the male dominated industry of illusion are Luna Shimada (daughter of longtime magic legend Shimada), Suzzane (first female recipient of the Close Up Magician of the Year award), and 9 other lady magicians.

The artistry of illusion and magic can trace its roots as far back as the Egyptian Pharaohs - predating film, television and even the vaudeville stage by centuries. However, the revered title of Magician was reserved for the men, while women were often dubbed sorceress or even witch.

The Magic Castle will be honoring one of its own pioneers of women in magic, the beloved Gerri Larsen. Without whom, as the mother of the Founders, The Magic Castle would never exist. Gerrie Larsen was a regular on local television in Los Angeles and performed her own full show for many years. A tribute of clips featuring her performances will be included in the Palace Theatre during the week with occasional commentary by son and Co-Founder, Milt Larsen. In addition, Liberty Larsen (great granddaughter of Gerrie) will be the MC in the palace and performing one of her great grandmother's signature trick.

The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. is a non-profit social order of nearly 6000 members worldwide devoted to the advancement of the art of magic. One of their primary focuses is to promote a positive image of magic and magicians. The organization promotes the art of magic, encourages fellowship and maintains the highest ethical standards for the art. Their clubhouse, the Magic Castle, is one of the most unique private clubs in the world. It is a Victorian style mansion turned into a clubhouse where members and their guests enjoy world-class magic and magicians share their trade secrets with each other. The Magic Castle and it's parent organization, The Academy of Magical Arts prepares to celebrate their 50th year as the preeminent home to illusionists - master, novice and fan alike.
