Hollywood Fringe Festival Announces New Creative Workshop Series

Organizers of the Hollywood Fringe Festival (www.hollywoodfringe.org) have announced a new set of free workshops this fall focusing on creative development, the writing process and mentorship in the arts. A small panel of veteran Fringe writers will share their experiences and answer questions November 16th & 17th at The Dragonfly (6510 Santa Monica Blvd.) at 7:00pm on both days. The November 16th session will focus on solo writing practices; the November 17th session is intended for collaborative writers and devisers. The new installment of workshops complements Hollywood Fringe's spring Town Hall & Workshop Series, designed to assist participants and producers in the months leading up to the festival.

"In the spring, people really need short-term guidance about their Fringe show," said Festival Director Ben Hill. "We focus a lot on marketing, ticketing, registration, things you can use to build audience. A creative component earlier in the year seemed like the natural next step to assist the community. We've shown we can help people become better producers. We want to help them be better creators, too."

Dates for the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival were also formally announced today. The seventh annual festival will take place June 9th-26th after a week of Previews taking place June 2nd-7th and an Opening Night Party on June 8th. Registration for the festival opens February 1st.

The festival sold over 50,000 tickets in 2015 and gave back all $400,000 to participating artists and venues. The month-long event continues to be one of the largest performing arts festivals in the country.
