Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will conclude their 22nd Anniversary season with Jason Robert Brown and Andrew Bergman's HONEYMOON IN VEGAS. The one-night-only concert will take place at Glendale's historic Alex Theatre on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 7:00 PM. This staging will provide Southern California audiences a first look at this delightful musical.
Based on Bergman's hit 1992 movie that starred Nicholas Cage, James Caan and Sarah Jessica Parker, HONEYMOON IN VEGAS tells the story of commitment-phobe Jack Singer, his not-so-patient girlfriend Betsy and a professional gambler named Tommy Korman who hasn't gotten over his wife's death. Featuring a score by Tony© winner Jason Robert Brown, the musical premiered in 2013 at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, N.J., staring Tony Danza, Rob McClure and Brynn O'Malley. It subsequently opened at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre in 2015 with the same principal cast. Despite generally positive reviews, the show closed after playing only 93 performances.
HONEYMOON IN VEGAS will star Musical Theatre Guild company members Will Collyer as Jack, Ashley Fox Linton as Betsy and Robert Yacko as Tommy with fellow company members Zachary Ford, Linda Igarashi, John Massey and Glenn Shiroma in supporting roles. Guest artists include Gillian Bozajian, Jasmine Ejan, Chris Holly, Jennie Kwan, Bill Ledesma, Kevin Matsumoto, Miyuki Miyagi, Monica Quinn, Roberta B. Wall and Paul Wong. The concert will be directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera, choreographed by Lee Martino, musical directed by Anthony Lucca and is under the production supervision of Barbara Carlton Heart.
