The Grove Theatre is proud to announce the opening of the long awaited Fiddler on the Roof, starring Isaac Keith Swann as Tevya. Set in 1905 in the small Jewish village of Anatevka, Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Tevye attempts to preserve his family's traditions in a changing world. Tevye's daughter Tzeitel wants to marry a poor tailor instead of the middle-aged butcher her father has chosen for her in the tradition of arranged marriages. Tevye is forced to choose between his daughter's happiness and his culture's beloved traditions.

Now a classic favorite, Fiddler on the Roof, was one of the first Broadway musicals to deal with serious issues such as persecution, poverty and holding on to one's beliefs.

The musical included such well-known songs as Sunrise, Sunset, If I Were a Rich Man, and Matchmaker

Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof has touched audiences around the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

Performances are on weekends beginning Friday, September 7th, and ending Sunday, September 23rd. Tickets are $25 and $20 with senior, student and group discounts available. Tickets can be purchased by calling or visiting the Box Office at (909) 920-4343, or by visiting The Grove's website at http://www.grovetheatre.com.
