glory|struck has announced a one-night-only reunion of the musicians and vocalists from last year's sold-out run of SPRING AWAKENING: IN CONCERT which played Downtown Los Angeles in a limited engagement raising awareness for the LOVE IS LOUDER movement.
Members of the company of SPRING AWAKENING are being featured in a unique musical cabaret event, CLASS OF 1892, featuring acoustic covers of their favorite songs, original music and a few highlights from the Sheik and Sater rock musical.
CLASS OF 1892: A #SPRINGINCONCERT REUNION will take place Saturday, April 13th at 10:00PM at M Bar, 1253 Vine Street in Hollywood. Doors open at 9:30PM and tickets are available at http://springinconcert.brownpapertickets.com
Performers include Kelley Jakle (42, PITCH PERFECT, NBC's "The Sing Off"), Nathan Parrett (NBC's "The Voice"), Jonah Platt, Topher Rhys, Caitlin Ary, Anthony Starble, Elmo Zapp, Jamie Lee Barnard Alissa-Nicole Koblentz and Kate Sullivan Gibbens with musicians Al Seller, Andrew Orbison and Rachel Howe.
Based on the controversial 1892 play by Frank Wedekind, SPRING AWAKENING recalls the coming-of-age and burgeoning sexuality among teenagers in 19th-century Germany as they grapple with teen suicide, pregnancy, sexuality and identity.
Last summer's rock-infused presentation, helmed by director Kate Sullivan Gibbens with musical direction by Elmo Zapp was described as a "new, exciting, and effective brand of theater." This theatre-concert installment focused sharply on music and its story, recalling the energy of a Sunset Strip music bar, to leave audiences with the piece in its purist, most unadulterated form: the music, the dialogue, and the message.
The cast of SPRING AWAKENING have recorded new demo tracks from the piece, which are available on iTunes.
