A naughty Rabbi with a dark secret. A Jewess who joins a 1950's Christian cult. The finagling business half of a tailoring partnership who stablishes a flourishing retail empire through his theft of his artistic partner's brilliant idea. A secret sexual liaison in a suburban laundromat.
Those are just some of the unique stories-in-song performed by master songwriter and actor Daniel Cainer in his award-winning, internationally-acclaimed, one-man show, "Gefilte Fish & Chips," coming to the Huntington Beach Library Theater Feb. 12 - March 22, 2015.
Based on true-life stories, Cainer - who has been described as a "virtuoso player" and an "unsurpassed storyteller" - presents a unique collection of songs that will take audiences on a musical and lyrical journey like no other, weaving an irresistible tapestry of family legend and musical folklore. "Gefilte Fish & Chips" features tales of lust, dissolution and double-dealing but with hilarious twists.
Performances of "Gefilte Fish & Chips" are Thursdays at 2 and 7 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $45 to $65. Group discounts available.
