Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize winning classic play OUR TOWN comes to the Kentwood Players stage with a dramatic restaging, directed by Stanley Brown and produced by Kathy Dershimer, opening Friday, January 11 through Saturday, February 16, 2019 on Fri/Sat 8pm, Sun 2pm at the Westchester Playhouse, 8301 Hindry Avenue, LA 90045.
OUR TOWN is introduced and narrated by the Stage Manager, who welcomes the audience to the fictional town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, early on a May morning in 1901. In the opening scene, the stage is largely empty, except for some tables and chairs that represent the homes of the Gibbs and Webb families. The set remains sparse throughout the rest of the play as their lives are remembered and celebrated, with the residents of the small town remaining as universal and timeless as when they first appeared on stage in 1938.
Featured in the cast, in alphabetical order, are Dan Adams, Stephen Anthony Bailey, Shari Barrett, Jenny Boone, Allison Cunningham, Harold Dershimer, Aly Etienne, Sadie Fisher, Eddie Ed O'Brien, Shawn Plunkett, Judy Rosenfeld, Michele Selin, Gabrielle Sigrist and Ethan Trejo.
Yes, it just so happens I am in the cast of this production, thus giving all my readers and fellow members of the press a chance to review me! And not only do I play several roles, I also sing with the choir and add in sound effects as well as being on the production team as the show's (back)stage manager.
So, whether this is your first or tenth visit to OUR TOWN, don't miss this special opportunity to experience what has been called "The Great American Play" and to see me onstage for the first time in over 5 years!
