The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) will continue its 34th Season in the Gothic setting of First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (540 South Commonwealth Avenue) on March 16th and 17th with its performance of "Awakenings," featuring special guests Vox Femina Los Angeles (VOX) and the new youth chorus, Outside Voices.

"Awakenings" will be conducted by GMCLA Artistic Director E. Jason Armstrong, and will feature the powerful voices of the 200-member GMCLA chorus alongside the female chorus members of VOX and the talented young stars of Outside Voices, the new mixed chorus formed by GMCLA and LifeWorks at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center.

Vox Femina made its on-stage debut in 1997 with GMCLA, and returns for another concert of eclectic, powerful songs. The concert will include "The Awakening" by Joseph M. Martin; "When I Fall In Love," arranged by James Mulholland and originally featured in the motion picture "Sleepless in Seattle"; "The Song of Purple Summer," arranged by Mark Brymer from the hit Broadway musical "Spring Awakening"; and "Into the West," the Academy Award-winning song from "Lord of the Rings," written by Fran Walsh, Howard Shore and Annie Lennox, among many others.

"We are very excited to have the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles back for another concert at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles," exclaimed Dr. R. Scott Colglazier, Senior Minister to the congregation. "Last year's concert was a definite highlight for us, and we are thrilled to welcome both the Chorus and its dedicated audience back this year as we continue to strengthen the burgeoning relationship between our two organizations."

GMCLA's 34th Season, presented by Wells Fargo, has been filled with a line-up of amazing performances and mission-driven work. On December 15th and 16th, GMCLA performed its annual "Holiday Spectacular." On June 22-23, 2013, GMCLA will feature the music of Stephen Schwartz in "Not Entirely Wicked" at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. The 34th Season program also includes the release of Joel A. Martin's 7th CD in the Jazzical series, entitled Jazzical Meets Menken, which will feature the choral sounds of GMCLA; the Alive Music Project (AMP), and the Chorus's own recognition event, The Voice Awards, to be held May 19, 2013.

Tickets for "Awakenings" go on sale Thursday, February 14, 2013. They range from $35-$75 and are available online at www.gmcla.org. Performances are Saturday, March 16th at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 17th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles (540 South Commonwealth Avenue).
