Come see Figure 8 Theatre's first production, a show that LA Weekly has called "One of the most powerful plays written about the mysteries and shared hallucinations of the female experience", Cuban-American playwright Maria Irene Fornes' classic feminist play, Fefu and her Friends, is one of the best loved Off-Broadway plays of all time.

In this innovative production, like in the original 1975 production which Fornes directed herself, the audience follows the lives of eight women in five different environments. Set in 1935, the play's themes of feminism, disability, education, representation and the function of art in society resonate stronger than ever in today's super-charged sociopolitical landscape.

"That which is exposed to the exterior is smooth and clean, that which is not, underneath, is slimy and infested and crawling with worms", says Fefu. "It's another life form, parallel to the one we manifest. It's there, the way worms are underneath the stone. If you don't recognize it- it eats you".

Hilarious, haunting, and full of poetic treasures, Fefu and her Friends will no doubt start an important conversation among audiences. The audience is truly the 9th character in this "revolving" play, moving from scene to scene with our characters. With your ticket, you will be promised an exciting and moving day of magical realism in Fefu's "house"- at the Woodland Hills Community Church's historic Harter Hall, a performance space which has been home to brave new plays in the San Fernando Valley for over 50 years.

Figure 8 Theatre Troupe is so excited to bring our exploration of Maria Irene Fornes' incredible play to the community today, August 8th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and August 9th at 2 p.m. at Woodland Hills Community Church. Tickets are just $10 for seniors, students and educators, $15 general admission. Tickets WILL sell out, due to the limited number of seats available for this experiential "rotating" play. Reserve yours now at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1633782.
