Los Feliz' famous Show at Barre's star-studded, concert of Jawbreaker, a new musical based on the cult-classic film, will perform a encore performance on Friday July 30 at 10pm. As previously announced the concert will also be performed on Thursday, July 29th at 9pm.
Based on Darren Stein's 1999 film starring Rose McGowan, Julie Benz, Judy Greer and Rebecca Gayheart, Jawbreaker has been re-imagined as a high-octane musical for the stage. A stylish girl-clique dark comedy, Jawbreaker follows the mythic story of Courtney "Satan-in-heels" Shayne and her minions who play a nasty birthday prank on their picture perfect bestie. It wasn't their fault the jawbreaker got stuck in her throat...or was it?
The concert will feature performances by Sabrina the Teenage Witch's Jenna Leigh Green, Shoshana Bean (Wicked), Eden Espinosa (Wicked), Megan Hilty (Wicked), James Snyder (Cry Baby), recording artists Scarlett Cherry and Katie Thompson, Olivier Award-winner Leslie Margherita (Zorro), Marty Thomas (Xanadu), Deborah S. Craig (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Jackie Seiden (Jersey Boys), Jen Malenke (Into the Woods), Nick Galbraith (As The World Turns), Jason Heymann (Avenue Q), Elizabeth Brackenbury (Reprise's Sunday in the Park with George), Aaron Neely, Katie Kern, Leslie Odem, Jr. and more surprise special guests!
Dexter's Julie Benz, who played Marcie Fox in the original film, will be in attendance, along with the film's director and screenwriter, Darren Stein.
Jawbreaker features a score by Jonathan Larson Award-winning writers Jordan Mann and Jeff Thomson, and book by Darren Stein, who wrote and directed the original film.
Jen Bender (The Lion King) will direct the one-night only production, with music direction by Brian P. Kennedy. The event will be produced by Shane Scheel.
