Emmy-award winning choreographer, producer, director, dancer and actress, Anita Mann, will participate in the 3rd Annual Woman to Woman Conference: Living Your Authentic Life, and will be accompanied by veteran dancer, Derek "Cooley" Jackson on Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
As one of four featured speakers at the conference, Mann will incorporate an inspiring number performed by "Cooley" Jackson, who is best known for teaching iconic pop-star, Michael Jackson, how to do the moonwalk. The conference is presented by The JVS Women's Leadership Network (WLN), a donor support group committed to sustaining and enhancing JVS' programs that serve women in need.
"Each year we invite highly accomplished professional women who can inspire others by sharing their trials and tribulations along the pathway to their success." said Debbie Powell, WLN co-founder and Conference co-chair.
"With the tremendous increase in audience awareness and passion for dance and the work of choreographers that has resulted partly from today's hugely popular TV dance shows," Powell continued, "I think her story is more relevant today than ever. Competition to break into the industry and sustain a career is tough. Drawing from her own experience, Anita can speak about the challenges, triumphs and inner strength she needed to reach her career milestones and find the personal and professional balance to live her authentic life. We are honored to work with her and know she will be a huge inspiration to our attendees."
Featured speakers at the conference will include Mann, along with surgeon and co-founder of the Pink Lotus Breast Center Dr. Kristi Funk, Assistant Chief Airport Police for Homeland Security and Intelligence Ethel L. McGuire and fashion designer and entrepreneur Heather Thomson. Former Miss North Carolina and second runner up to Miss America Kiki Elrod, will be hosting this year's conference.
