Hailed as one of the foremost stand-ups of his generation, Emmy-winning comic Eddie Izzard makes Hollywood Bowl history with Stripped to the Bowl, the first-ever solo comedy presentation at the iconic venue, after selling out Madison Square Garden in January 2010. "It is a great honour to be the first stand-up comic to do a solo show at the Hollywood Bowl, and having just done 70 gigs in Paris in French, I think I am ready for it," Izzard commented.

Since Izzard made his first stage appearance on London's West End in 1993 with his one-man comedy show Live at the Ambassadors - which earned him a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for outstanding achievement and his first British Comedy Award for top stand-up comedian - there have been a succession of sell-out and critically-acclaimed international tours including Unrepeatable (1994), Definite Article (1996) and Glorious (1997). In 1998 Izzard toured his breakthrough show Dress to Kill, which aired on HBO and went on to earn him two Emmy Awards. 2000 was the year of Circle. SEXIE followed in 2003, selling out 18 cities across the U.S. Within one week of tickets going on sale, Izzard sold out six shows at L.A.'s Wiltern Theater. In 2008, Izzard's stand-up tour, Stripped, sold out 34 cities across the U.S. including three nights at Radio City Music Hall and five nights at the Kodak Theatre. In 2010, after an arena tour of Europe and America, Izzard debuted Stripped in Canada and completed his first extensive tour there.

Reflecting on his upcoming Hollywood Bowl debut, Izzard notes, "I was a street performer in England and to go from playing the streets of London to playing the Hollywood Bowl is either living the American Dream or maybe the European Dream."

Well renowned as a comic, Eddie is equally respected as a film, theater and TV actor. His hugely successful FX series, The Riches, has been critically acclaimed across the world. Izzard currently can be seen in the third season of United States of Tara on Showtime. His stage appearances include Mamet's The Cryptogram, 900 Oneonta, the title roles in Marlowe's Edward II and A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, both in London and on Broadway. The role won him several prestigious awards including a Tony Nomination for Best Actor.

Well on his way to an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), Izzard made his big screen debut in 1996 alongside Bob Hoskins and Robin Williams in the movie Secret Agent. Other highlights of his movie career include Velvet Goldmine, My Super X Girlfriend, Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, Across the Universe, Rage, and Valkyrie. Izzard's most current film, is a documentary; Believe - The Eddie Izzard Story, directed by Sarah Townsend, features Eddie keeping company with heavyweights George Clooney and Robin Williams and earned an Emmy nomination.
