Early November Theatre Events (and MORE) on the California Central Coast!

As we bid farewell to October and move on into November, I hope you are planning to avail yourself of at least one or two of the live performance and theatre productions that presently (or soon will be) running at any number of the live entertainment establishments that make their homes here on the California Central Coast!

The Great American Melodrama (www.americanmelodrama.com) is pleased to present The Werewolf of Dr. Oz, a new musical written by Eric Hoit and JorDan Richardson, through November 13.  This production is, of course, followed by an all new high energy Vaudeville Revue - which many theatre patrons insist is worth the price of admission!

The Werewolf of Dr. Oz shape shifts a classic musical and transforms it into the tale of a lonely Kansas farm boy, Donny Gale (Mike Fiore), who comes across what might be a werewolf tooth while on an archeological field trip with classmates Larry (Jim Shine), Tito (Kyle Huey) and Judy June Jones (Ali Keirn).  The kids horse around with the new specimen and find themselves in detention, much to the dismay of Donny's Aunt Emma (Megan C.C. Walker).  When Donny arrives at detention he is shocked to find himself howling and growling as if he's turning into a werewolf!  Frightened and embarrassed, he runs away from school and ends up in a dark forest where he meets his own set of quirky sidekicks, Tivo and Flaircrow, and together the trio set out to find a visiting television personality named Dr. Oz, in the hope that the doctor can help them.  Along the way Donny learns of the wicked plan of his teacher, Ms Hamilton (Leah Kolb) and the archeological director, Morgan Frank (Jake McGuire) to turn Donny in for research.  Will Dr. Oz actually be able to help?  Can Donny and his friends avoid being captured by Ms. Hamilton?  And will Judy June and Donny find love along the way?  It may not be down the yellow brick road, but with hilarious song parodies and pop culture references, this is sure to be a journey full of laughter and music!  Following the play is The Game of Life Vaudeville Revue. Directed by George Walker with musical direction by JorDan Richardson, this revue, full of song, dance and comedy, takes us through the different stages of life and celebrates those funny creatures called humans and their amazing ride in this game called life.  So love, laugh and live!

Murder In Mind Productions (www.murderinmind.com) will present A Dickens of a Mystery, December 11 - January 29.

The Mission College Preparatory High School (www.missionprep.org) Drama Department will present The Sound of Music November 11-20.  Call (805) 543-2131 for more information. 

SLO Little Theatre (www.slolittletheatre.org) is pleased to announce auditions for My Generation on November 8 & 9 (performances February 17 - March 25).  A special engagement of Between Iraq and a Hard Place and Killing Me Softly With Jazz Hands, starring Jill Turnbow and Beck Pedigo, will be presented November 11 & 12.   Ubu's Other Shoe readers' theatre next production will be The Cocktail Party on November 18 & 19.

Next on the SLOLT main stage will be A Christmas Story, December 2-23.  ACT's (Academy of Creative Theatre) The Little Prince will be presented January 13-29.

The God Is Still Speaking Players' (https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/92718528887) next production is "Celebration In Song" - a musical variety show, November 19 & 20 at 2 PM, to benefit the good works of GALA and PFLAG here on the Central Coast.

Kelrik Productions' (www.kelrikproductions.com) is pleased to announce the first 2 productions of their 2012 BEYOND Season - a remount of the children's favorite Pinkalicious (auditions November 30, matinee performances January 21 - February 5) and Avenue Q (auditions November 10, evening performances January 13 - February 4).  The remainder of the 2012 Season is set to be announced on November 14 - stay tuned!

The Pewter Plough Playhouse (www.pewterploughplayhouse.org) in Cambria just closed A.R. Gurney's The Fourth Wall - stay tuned for what will be next!

The Theatre at the Old Grammar School in Cambria (TOGS) (http://artistsofcambria.com/cambriapac/id4.html) and Allied Arts Theatre will present Dearly Departed through November 20.

The Spot (https://www.facebook.com/#!/hit.the.spot) in Arroyo Grande will present the adult themed one act Women and Wallace November 11 & 12 and 18 & 19 (no one under 16 will be admitted).

Sorcerer Productions (https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Sorcerer-Productions/105954829426281) will present Plaid Tidings November 25 - December 18 in the Clark Center Studio Theatre in Arroyo Grande.

Other upcoming performances at the Clark Center (www.clarkcenter.org) include Crooked Still on November 11, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band on November 13, The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon November 17-19, Ain't Misbehavin' November 18 & 19, Chris Perondi's Stunt Dog Experience on November 20, and Everybody can DANCE and the Santa Maria Civic Ballet's The Nutcracker November 26 & 27. 

The Santa Maria Civic Theatre (www.smct.org) will present It's a Wonderful Life: Radio Play November 18 - December 10.  Auditions for Rabbit Hole will be held November 28 & 29 (performances February 2-25).   

The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts (www.pcpa.org), the Central Coast's Resident Professional Theatre Company, located on the Allan Hancock College Campus in Santa Maria, is currently in rehearsals for A Christmas Carol - the musical, which will run November 10 - December 23.

The Lompoc Civic Theatre's (www.lompoccivictheatre.com) will present 2 holiday one act plays: The Cowhand's Christmas Carol and Not on This Night, December 2-10. 

So, regardless of what else you might be thinking about for some entertainment FUN during the next couple of weeks, I trust your list includes supporting the performing arts community here on the Central Coast of California by patronizing some of our area theatre and live performance venues that are eagerly awaiting an opportunity to entertain you!
