Burglars of Hamm return to the Fringe with their interactive sock- throwing parody of one-person shows, EASY TARGETS, named Best Comedy at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
EASY TARGETS is for every audience member who has sat in the dark at a bad play thinking they now know what prison must be like. It allows the audience to act out the fantasy of punishing their jailers. A satire of one-person-shows, EASY TARGETS presents 4 short solo shows and then invites the audience to show their "appreciation" by pummeling the performers with rolled-up socks any time they feel bored, annoyed, patronized, manipulated, etc. Each audience of EASY TARGETS forms a pack working to remind the performers, writers and designers that if they fail to respect the audience, they will suffer the sock.
This year's show is entitled EASY TARGETS: ARTISTS AND HEROES which comprises of four short one person shows; All About Me, An Evening with Abraham Lincoln, Word Magic and Space Man (or How I Found Myself in Low Earth Orbit).
Burglars of Hamm is the four-person writing and performing partnership of Carolyn Almos, Matt Almos, Jon Beauregard and Albert Dayan. In the 20 years of the Burglars' existence, they have become an LA theater mainstay for their original satires that poke holes in vanity and theatrical conventions.
Their most recent creation, THE BEHAVIOR OF BROADUS, a Center Theatre Group commission, won numerous awards, including Drama Circle Critics Awards for Musical Score, Ovation Awards for Original Music and Book of a Musical, a Stage Raw Award for Musical of the Year, and is published by Samuel French. They have been called "The Talking Heads of LA theatre - arch, geeky, high-brow and hip" (LA Stage Magazine), "LA's goofiest social satirists" (The Los Angeles Times) and "Perhaps the closest thing LA has to the Pythons" (Backstage).
EASY TARGETS will play at The Broadwater Black Box, 1076 Lillian Way, Los Angeles 90038. The cast will include Hugo Armstrong, Selina Merrill, Eric Curtis Johnson and Tracey Leigh. It is directed by Jaime Robledo.
