Disney's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS Will Be Screened at El Capitan Theatre

Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre presents a special engagement of Disney's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS, November 2 to 18, shown in brilliant Dolby VisionTM Laser Projection & Dolby Atmos Sound Technology. As Guests enter the theatre, audience members can take selfies with a life-sized onstage music box while the El Capitan's Music Maestro spins tunes themed to each of the Four Realms. Later, as the lights go down, the music box magically comes to life before your eyes!

"There is simply no better place to create memories of a lifetime and discover the holiday magic of Disney's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS than the El Capitan Theatre," said Ed Collins, General Manager of The El Capitan Theatre. "As Guests enter the theatre, they will have the opportunity to take photos with a life-size music box on the El Capitan Theatre Stage while the Music Maestro spins tunes themed to each of the four realms. Later as the lights dim, the Music Box will come to life."

Collins continued, "Also, before and after every showing of THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS, guests can explore an exclusive Costume Exhibit in the Lower Lounge of The El Capitan Theatre featuring costumes from the production and much more! In addition to all of that - the El Capitan Theatre is thrilled to also host eighteen area dance companies and schools on selected dates and showtimes that will perform short interpretations of THE NUTCRACKER prior to the movie."

El Capitan Guests can even be the first to see the movie by attending The Special Opening Night Event on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00pm. At that performance, Los Angeles Ballet, headed by its artistic directors Thordal Christensen and Colleen Neary, will perform a short excerpt from the company's celebrated production of THE NUTCRACKER on the El Capitan Theatre stage. Tickets to The Special Opening Night Fan Event are $45 each and include a Reserved Seat, Popcorn, 20 oz Bottled Drink, Fairy Floss, Tote Bag, and an Exclusive Poster.

On Tuesday, November 2 at the 7:30pm screening, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy will perform an short excerpt from Debbie Allen's Hot Chocolate Nutcracker.

At subsequent selected show times of Disney's THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS dance companies will include Calabasas Dance Academy, Center Stage Dance Company, Degas Dance Studio, Empowerment Movement Dance Company, Gotta Dance, Grandeza Mexicana Dance Academy, LA Ballet Academy, LA Dance Ensemble, L.Y.T.E. The El Capitan Theatre is proud to host 18 dance companies/schools from throughout Southern CA. Each will perform their interpretation of THE NUTCRACKER ranging from ballet, modern dance., jazz, hip-hop, samba, Bollywood, ballet, and even cultural dance. All Clara wants is a key - a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. TINY TOT TUESDAY: The El Capitan Theatre will also host a very special Tiny Tot Tuesday for the first show every Tuesday. During these special screenings, parents and small children may enjoy the movie in a tot-friendly way-with lights dimmed rather than out and reduced sound levels.

ABOUT THE EL CAPITAN THEATRE
Declared a Historic Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles and restored to showcase its original lavish architecture, The El Capitan Theatre has been since 1991 an exclusive first run theatre, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, for The Walt Disney Studios. The theatre also hosts live stage shows, world premieres, special events, and screenings of classic Disney films.

In the 1920s, real estate developer Charles Toberman and Sid Grauman built the Egyptian, Chinese and El Capitan theatres. Los Angeles based Stiles O. Clements designed the elaborate cast-concrete Spanish Colonial style exterior; San Francisco architect G. Albert Lansburgh, known for his design of over 50 West Coast theatres and luxury cinema houses, designed the lavish East Indian inspired interior. Originally a legitimate theatre (over 120 plays and musicals were staged), it was converted for film for the world premiere of Orson Welles' "Citizen Kane." The theatre then was renovated, reopening in March 1942 as the Hollywood Paramount, a streamlined "art moderne" first run movie house.

In 1989, the Walt Disney Company joined forces with Pacific Theatres and launched a two-year, museum quality restoration of The El Capitan, led by renowned theatre designer Joseph J. Musil. Musil with the supervision of the National Park Service's Department of the Interior, and guidance from conservator Martin Weil and architect Ed Fields, achieved the goal recreating the original 1926 look and feel -- including original design elements such as the ornate plasterwork found hidden behind walls and the opera boxes in the main auditorium.
