Director Named for Barefoot in the Park at the Covina Center

The Covina Center for the Performing Arts' Artistic General Director Patrick Copeland and Artistic Producing Director Phil Miller are proud to announce that Broadway star Greg Zerkle will direct CCPA's upcoming production of Neil Simon's Barefoot In The Park.

Neil Simon's Barefoot In The Park will be the Covina Center for the Performing Arts second Mainstage production of the 2009 Season. Neil Simon's Barefoot In The Park will open on March 3, 2009 with performances through April 5. The CCPA's 2009 Special Event Season will open on February 20 and 21, 2009, with "An Evening with Jason Robert Brown and the Caucasian Rhythm Kings".

Mr. Zerkle will make his CCPA directorial debut with this production. Greg has most recently directed the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities' production of A Secret Garden and at the Costa Mesa Civic Playhouse, where his production of Urinetown won the OC Weekly Award for Best Musical. Bringing more than three decades of industry experience to CCPA, as a performer Mr. Zerkle has starred on Broadway and around the country in Into The Woods, The Secret Garden, Show Boat, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera.

Miller, Artistic Producing Director for CCPA, said, "To welcome someone of Greg Zerkle's caliber and history through the doors of CCPA is exactly what Patrick and I set as a goal for this theatre. All of his experience, knowledge and talent are only surpassed by the quality of individual and artist Greg is. All of us at CCPA couldn't be more pleased to welcome him into this company, and allow him to ‘re-invent' one of the classic comedies of the last 40 years at our theatre."
