Deborah S. Craig Joins Gavankar & OPM in LA Comedy Fest

Deborah S. Craig (original Marcy Park in Broadway's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Melanie on ABC's "Six Degrees" and in the upcoming Dreamworks feature Ghost Town starring Ricky Gervais) joins Janina Gavankar (Papi from Showtime's "The L Word") and the award winning sketch comedy group OPM for the LA Comedy Fest October 19 - 27.

Deborah S. Craig won a Drama Desk Award (Best Ensemble) for originating the role of Marcy Park on Broadway in Wiiliam Finn's Tony Award winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee directed by Pulitzer Prize Winner James Lapine.  She also had a recurring role on ABC's "Six Degrees" opposite Bridget Moynahan and is featured in the upcoming Dreamworks film Ghost Town starring Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear.  Previous credits include the Off-Broadway productions of Don't Quit Your Night Job (with Steve Rosen, David Rossmer and Sarah Saltzberg),  WaVe (Ma-Yi / Dir. Will Pomerantz), Pericles (Culture Project / Dir. Jesse Berger).  Fuenteovejuna (NAATCO / Dir. David Herskovits) and The Karaoke Show (dir. Diane Paulus).  An accomplished singer/songwriter she has performed at Carnegie Hall, composed for the Korean Centennial and wrote and sang the title song for the feature "Purity".  She is currently Bi-coastal but mostly likes men. www.myspace.com/deborahcraig

Janina Gavankar is best known as Papi from Showtime's "The L Word."  Her previous credits include appearances on hit television series "Girlfriends," "Strong Medicine," the indie film Bull Run and a starring turn on "Dash for Cash," a pilot for the CW.  A classically trained singer she was a member of the pop group Endera, signed to a subsidiary of Universal Records.  She is currently working on a solo recording with previous collaborations including  Pratichee of Viva, Deep, and Navraaz.  Gavankar also plays "Ms.Dewey" in the cutting edge interactive search engine MsDewey.com.   www.janinagavankar.com

OPM is a diverse award winning sketch group whose roots started in Seattle 1996. Their topical and dangerous comedy has garnered them numerous awards including multiple wins for Vancouver's Sketchoff Competition Top Prize,  San Francisco Fringe Fest "Best of the Fest", "Best Box Office" and Sketch Group.
