The headlining entertainment for the gala event will be DAVIS GAINES (Broadway: The Phantom of the Opera) and THE PHANTOM'S LEADING LADIES.
The Phantom of the Opera, the longest-running show in Broadway history, celebrated an unprecedented 28th anniversary in January 2016. On April 7, 2016, the Anaheim Performing Arts Center Foundation joins in the celebration by bringing four of the celebrated performers to The City National Grove of Anaheim.
DAVIS GAINES performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera over 2,000 times, during his run on Broadway, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, where he remains the city's longest-running Phantom. Other Broadway and National Tour credits include Hello, Dolly! with Carol Channing, Camelot with Richard Burton and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with Alexis Smith. Mr. Gaines also has extensive musical theatre credits all over the country and abroad. Additionally, he has sung for five U.S. Presidents and with every major symphony orchestra in North America, including the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl.
THE PHANTOM'S LEADING LADIES (Teri Bibb, Karen Culliver, and Mary D'Arcy) have collectively starred in hundreds of musicals across the country, including such Broadway shows as SHOW BOAT, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and SHE LOVES ME, plus more than 4,000 performances collectively as Christine Daaé in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Together and/or individually they have sung with the New York Pops, The City of London Philharmonic, the Santa Fe, Pacific, St. Louis, Cape, Redlands, Lake Charles, Torrance, Chattanooga, Signature, Springfield Symphonies, and more, performing in such venues as: Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, London's Royal Albert Hall and The Library of Congress.
This trio of Broadway stars sings everything from Broadway classics to the Beatles as solo artists and in distinctively intricate three-part harmony. These ladies provide an evening of surprises and flirtatious fun with exquisite musicianship, humor, and class. Think The Three Tenors, but cooler, funnier...and they look better in cocktail dresses!
Mistress of Ceremonies for the event will be star of stage and screen, FLORENCE HENDERSON. Ms. Henderson endures as one of the most beloved American entertainers of the last six decades. From a Broadway star, she became a television icon as Carol Brady of "The Brady Bunch," still in syndication in 122 countries. Her memoir, Life Is Not a Stage was on the New York Times Bestsellers List.
The evening will be produced and directed by LUKE YANKEE. In addition to serving as Producing Artistic Director of The Long Beach Civic Light Opera (one of the biggest musical theatres in the country), he has assistant directed six Broadway shows and has worked all over the country and abroad. For the past four years, he has written, directed and produced the Los Angeles Actors Fund Tony Awards Gala, honoring such Broadway luminaries as Barbara Cook, Jason Alexander, Tim Curry, Alfred Molina, June Lockhart, Cathy Rigby, Joe Morton, Millicent Martin and Theodore Bikel, among many others.
