Man's Dominion tells the story of the 1916 lynching in Erwin, TN, of Mary the elephant and star attraction of the Sparks Family Shows, an itinerant circus that toured the American Southeast and beyond for years. Man's Dominion tells Mary's story along with those of witnesses, participants and circus co-workers and stars actor Tim Powell in a one- person theatrical event where he brings to life ten (10) characters in nineteen (19) separate but thematically unified monologues. We are honored - and saddened as well - to bring Mary's story to the world during this, the 100th anniversary year of her death.

Man's Dominion was written by Emmy-nominated TV writer David Castro and directed for the stage by Dennis Neal, a much sought-after Los Angeles actor and acting teacher.

Man's Dominion opens in 2016 for a 6-weekend run at Studio C Theatre in Los Angeles. (www.studiocartists.com)

Man's Dominion began at the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival where it enjoyed an initial sold-out world-premiere run. After two run extensions as part of the Encores! Producers Series, Man's Dominion was chosen to be part of the Pre-2015 Hollywood Fringe Series in May of 2015. The show traveled for a week's residence in Florence, Alabama and 2015 has seen the show go internationally to the appreciative crowds at the Toronto Fringe Festival for 7 performances, each ending with standing ovations for Tim Powell. Performances followed for two weeks in Chicago, five performances in Orlando, FL at the celebrated Mad Cow Theatre where Dennis Neal, Man's director, was a founder. And the tour ended its run in New York in October at the United Solo Festival to sold out houses and standing ovations in its off-Broadway debut at the famed 42nd street Theatre.
