Dreier's return to the El Portal Theatre is happening just 2 weeks before Doris Day's 92nd birthday weekend celebration in Carmel, CA where he will be performing DORIS AND ME. Fans from all over the world (as far as Germany and the UK) gather each year to celebrate Doris and raise money for animals. The weekend raises money for her foundation--DDAF.org.
DORIS AND ME is directed by Richard Israel, with musical direction by Bob Remstein and bass by Paul Morin. It is written and conceived by Scott Dreier along with Kurtis Simmons. DORIS AND ME is one man's quirky, lovable obsession with music and movie icon, Doris Day. As the ultimate, obsessed fan, Scott Dreier makes this more than your typical tribute show to a timeless artist, taking the audience with him on a sentimental journey to nostalgic times gone by. As he lovingly shares, through classic treasured songs, personal anecdotes, humor, heart, and many Doris Day stories and history, Scott Dreier never lets us forget how much he loves her and why he has become Doris Day's biggest fan.
Having grown up in a family where music, TV, and films were strictly monitored, Scott was somehow allowed to watch the Saturday Afternoon Film Festival hosted by Tom Hatten. This is where he first discovered Doris Day. She became his escape, always making the bad days brighter and happier with her artistry and joyous spirit. And this is where his love affair and obsession with Doris began.
Dreier has been touring with the show for two and a half years, including several successful runs at the Welk Resort Theatre in Escondido. He has also performed the show in Arizona, San Diego, Thousand Oaks, Rhode Island, San Francisco, and will be at the prestigious 54 Below in New York. Scott was one of the lucky guests present when Doris surprised everyone by making her first public appearance in decades and coming to her 90th birthday celebration.
Scott has made his living as a professional performer for 20 years in theatre- having performed in over 50 theatrical productions -TV, commercials, voiceover, film, recording and cabaret. His self-titled debut solo CD of big band, Broadway and pop songs was selected onto the preliminary Grammy Ballot. Scott has been the guest vocalist for Pasadena Pops and has sung back up for Barbra Streisand. As a voiceover artist, Scott was the voice of Knuckles the Echidna for Sega Games, Sonic the Hedgehog for many years. He has appeared in numerous national and regional television commercials.
If you're a Doris Day fan, DORIS AND ME is a must; if you're not, you'll be one by the end of the show!
