Charles Darwin-the Charles Darwin- is sunbathing through eternity with a view of the Pacific and a girl named Sarah. His peace is rudely disturbed when his friend Thomas Huxley washes up on the beach closely followed by the Bishop of Oxford. The Bishop has decided that the only possible reason that he is not in heaven-that none of them are in heaven-must be Charles Darwin, his great failure. The Bishops reasons his one route to heaven is to bring Darwin back to God. And Darwin, Sarah and Huxley find themselves entangled in a enthralling and thought-provoking comedy about God, science and life on the beach.
