Brown Buffalo is an unapologetic historical adaptation based on the life and times of Oscar "Zeta" Acosta, a controversial figure in Chicana/o letters, who mysteriously disappeared in 1974. Acosta, the self-proclaimed Brown Buffalo, leaves the Inframundo (Aztec Underworld) on a quest to find himself. His search propels him to interact with the people closest to him while alive; his ex-wife, son and chief antagonist, Hunter S.
