TV and film actor, leading Broadway star and singer-songwriter Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story, Glee) will ring in the 2016 holiday season as the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles' (GMCLA) special guest performer for its dazzling Holiday Spectacular - "Cool Yule" on December 15, 17 and 18.
Unquestionably one of Los Angeles' "not-to-miss" annual holiday shows, the impressive and vibrant musical extravaganza features all of the glitter and the garland that audiences have come to expect from GMCLA's annual musical revue, plus a little Hanukkah gelt to add some extra shimmer.
Extravagant and colorful larger-than-life sets paired with bright and flamboyant costumes help bring to life a choral celebration of traditional holiday classics, favorite childhood songs, and even a few fabulous surprises, with some laughter along the way.
Some of the unforgettable numbers one may expect will include songs like 'Cool Yule,' 'Hot Hanukkah,' 'Auld Lang Syne,' 'Christmastime is Here,' 'The Lumberjack Song,' ' Recycle the Fruitcake,' and 'Father Christmas is My Boyfriend Now.'
Out Magazine's "Entertainer of the Year," Jackson will top off the holiday celebration, which has been referred to as a "quintessential Los Angeles experience" by The Huffington Post, with some memorable and magical musical performances.
Now in its 38th season, GMCLA once again continues to change hearts and minds through the power of musical performance with its legendary 250+ member chorus.
"GMCLA's Annual Holiday Spectacular has become one of the signature holiday events in Los Angeles and with good reason - who wouldn't want to go to a holiday celebration hosted by 250-plus gay men?" says Dr. Joe Nadeau, Artistic Director and Conductor, GMCLA. "This year we have a wide assortment of holiday hits and seasonal surprises including sleigh rides, lumberjacks, fruitcakes, hipster reindeer, and even Father Christmas. The concert features the stunning voices of GMCLA and a big band that is unlike any other holiday choral concert you'll attend. GMCLA is delighted to welcome Cheyenne Jackson as our special guest. Don't miss GMCLA's Holiday Spectacular: Cool Yule."
Presented by Season 38 Presenting Sponsor Wells Fargo and Community Presenter AIDS/LifeCycle, GMCLA's "Holiday Spectacular: Cool Yule" will return to Glendale's acclaimed venue, the Alex Theatre (216 N. Brand Blvd.), for four exceptional performances. Due to incredibly high demand for the show in recent years, GMCLA has added on a third day for this year's performance.
"Holiday Spectacular: Cool Yule" will take place with three exceptional performances on Thursday, December 15 at 8 p.m., Saturday, December 17 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and on the following day, Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m.
