"Ambassador of Americana" Charles Phoenix celebrates how we decorated, dressed up, dined, and drank during the holidays in the 50s and 60s with his annual Retro Holiday Slide Show, slated to take place this November and December at five Southland locations in Glendora, Brea, Riverside, Pomona, and Downtown Los Angeles.
With his abundant joy, clever wit and keen eye for odd-ball detail, Charles supercharges the classic living room slide show into a laugh-out-loud extravaganza of classic and kitschy mid-century New Years, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas life and style.
"Marvel at the most politically incorrect New Year's Rose Parade floats and the Lamb Cake Contest on Easter Sunday, then explode with patriotic pride on July 4th," says Phoenix about his popular holiday tradition that is inspired by the very best of his massive collection of found vintage Kodrachrome slides.
"Home made trick-or-treat costumes will have you howling on Halloween before we trace the tragic life of a Thanksgiving turkey. Attend a kinky Christmas bondage party and see who gets the most outrageous toys on Christmas morning. Your creative imagination will be inspired and your holiday spirit with soar like never before!" sums up Phoenix.
Festive holiday dress is encouraged, although not expected.
