Celebration Theatre has announced a limited return engagement of Ryan O'Connor's Vote, Pray, Love, O'Connor's first cabaret show since his highly lauded autobiographical debut Ryan O'Connor Eats His Feelings in 2009. With musical direction by Emily Rosenfield and Andy Arena and directed by Tony Award-winner Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray), Vote, Pray, Love, will play four performances only on April 8, 9, 15, and 16.
In 2016, Ryan O'Connor took a break from show business to work as a Field Organizer for the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign in Pontiac, Michigan. Now returning to the cabaret stage, Vote, Pray, Love is an exploration of how his 150-pound weight loss, sobriety from drug and alcohol abuse, a career implosion, and a sudden divorce led to his unlikely redemption in the middle of nowhere. Told through story and song, O'Connor's uniquely comic and vulnerable voice shines in this exciting, engaging, and emotionally cathartic night of entertainment.
O'Connor has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, How I Met Your Mother, Hollywood Hillbillies, Giada Entertains, and on OWN with Suze Orman. His various entertainment exploits have been profiled in People Magazine and The Advocate 40 Under 40, among others. He recently appeared in the world premiere of the new Fat Mike/Soma Snakeoil/Jeff Marx musical, Home Street Home. Additionally, O'Connor has published essays on his dramatic weight loss and being an unexpected pioneer in gay divorce, as well as co-hosting the popular podcast LadyWatch with Ryan and Jason.
Vote, Pray, Love is produced for Celebration Theatre by Tom Detrinis, Christopher Maikish, and Jay Marcus.
Ryan O'Connor's Vote, Pray, Love will play four performances only on Sundays, April 8 and 15 at 7pm and Mondays, April 9 and 16 at 8pm. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online at www.CelebrationTheatre.com or by phone at (323) 957-1884. Celebration Theatre at The Lex is located at 6760 Lexington Avenue in Hollywood, 90038.
