Celebration Theatre Presents FOR THE PEOPLE By Carol Mullen

Celebration Theatre presents, as part of its Celebrating New Works reading series, FOR THE PEOPLE by Carol Mullen, directed by Nathan Frizzell and performing one night only on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:30pm at The West Hollywood City Chambers, 625 N. San Vicente Blvd in West Hollywood.

FOR THE PEOPLE is the fictional story of Meg Cabot, the first openly lesbian city councilwoman of Pittsburgh, who, after a vicious hate crime, is suddenly thrust onto the national political stage. With her hard-charging chief-of-staff steering her towards a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Meg must decide how far she will go to advance her career and what she is (and isn't) willing to sacrifice to be both a successful politician and a good person.

CAROL MULLEN (Playwright) has had her work produced by theaters and festivals including the Kick It! Festival; the Los Angeles Women's Theatre Project; the NativeAliens Theater Collective; OutWorks Festival; the Pittsburgh New Works Festival; Stage Q; 10 x 10 in the Triangle; and, Off-Off Broadway at the Emerging Artists Theater and Blue Pearl Theatrics. Carolhas an MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage from Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts and she is a member of the Dramatists Guild.

NATHAN FRIZZELL (Director/Producer) Since 2013, Nathan has been the Executive Producer of Celebrating New Works as Literary Director of Celebration Theatre. During that time, Celebration has helped to give voice to new works by over 40 LGBTQ and Allied artists. As a member of Celebration Theatre, Nathan has appeared onstage and produced numerous mainstage productions including Booty Candy, Die Mommie Die!, Priscilla, Queen of the Desertand the Ovation Award-winning West Coast premiere of The Boy From Oz. Last year, Nathan - along with Jay Marcus and Tom Detrinis- developed the world premieres of two smash hits So Long, Boulder City and Tilda Swinton Answers An Ad on Craigslistwhich bold sold out lengthy runs in Los Angeles before going Off-Broadway in New York. Celebrating New Works is produced by Celebration Theatre's Literary Director Nathan Frizzell. Celebration Theatre is headed by its Artistic Michael A. Shepperd, along with its Executive Director Michael C. Kricfalusi.
