KILLER NEWS! Celebration Theatre and JohnMichael Beck are thrilled to announce the final extension of their smash-hit, Ovation! Recommended, critically acclaimed second show in its 2016-2017 season, under the artistic direction of Michael Matthews & Michael A. Shepperd, Drew Droege starring in DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! by Charles Busch and directed by Ryan Bergmann is EXTENDING ONE LAST TIME through SATURDAY, APRIL 22 at Celebration Theatre @ the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Los Angeles.
Ovation Award-Winning Celebration Theatre presents Charles Busch's campy noir classic, DIE MOMMIE DIE!, starring the hilarious Drew Droege (Bright Colors and Bold Patterns, Chloe, Logo's Cocktails & Classics) as aging Hollywood star Angela Arden. Trapped in a hateful marriage with sleazy film producer Sol and desperate to find happiness with her gorgeous young lover Tony, Angela murders her husband. But when her children, Edith and Lance, discover what she's done, they decide to take revenge! Family secrets are revealed and you'll never see the surprise twist coming. This Greek tragedy on acid is an over-the-top comedy of Gay Hollywood proportions. You won't want to miss this rollicking good time!
ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST
Charles Busch (Playwright) is the author and star of such plays as The Divine Sister, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, which ran five years and is one of the longest running plays in Off-Broadway history. His play The Tale of the Allergist's Wife ran for 777 performances on Broadway and won Mr. Busch the Outer Circle Critics John Gassner Award and received a Tony nomination for Best Play. He wrote and starred in the film versions of his plays, Psycho Beach Party and Die Mommie Die!, the latter of which won him the Best Performance Award at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2003, Mr. Busch received a special Drama Desk Award for career achievement as both performer and playwright. Mr. Busch made his directorial debut with the film A Very Serious Person, which premiered at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival, where it won an honorable mention. He is also the subject of the documentary film The Lady in Question is Charles Busch. His many plays are published by Samuel French.
Ryan Bergmann (Director) has been directing, producing and acting in LA theatre for well over a decade. Recent Directing Highlights: Niagara Falls (Theatre of NOTE), Bronies: The Musical (LA Fringe, Best Musical), revolver (Celebration Theatre), The Real Housekeepers of Studio City (LA Fringe); Recent AD Highlights: Booty Candy (Celebration Theatre), ?Dream Boy (Celebration Theatre), Psyche (The Greenway Theater), Wolves (Celebration Theatre), A Little Midsummer Night's Dream (Los Angeles Rock Opera Company), The Color Purple (Celebration Theatre; Ovation Award, Best Musical in an Intimate Theatre along with five other Ovation Awards). Recent Producing Highlights: Anaïs, A Dance Opera (Mixed eMotion Theatrix), Push Play 3 (LA Rock Opera), The Next Fairy Tale (Celebration Theatre), BASH'd: A Gay Rap Opera (Celebration Theatre), A Little Midsummer Night's Dream (LA Rock Opera), Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera (LA Rock Opera).
Drew Droege (Angela) Most recently starred Off-Broadway in his critically acclaimed solo show, Bright Colors and Bold Patterns, a New York Times Critics' Pick, which he previously performed at Celebration Theatre this past fall. He is best known for his online parody videos of downtown indie It Girl Chloe Sevigny, featured in The Advocate, Entertainment Weekly, Huffington Post, TimeOut New York, and most recently featured in Marc Jacobs' 2016 Spring campaign. He's a regular on the Logo series Cocktails & Classics and has appeared on Transparent, Life In Pieces, IdiotSitter, Nobodies, Bob's Burgers, Drunk History, Bajillion Dollar Properties, 2 Broke Girls, House Of Lies, Kroll Show,Key & Peele, MTV's Acting Out, New Girl, Happy Endings, How I Met Your Mother, and Baby Daddy. He can be seen in films Ideal Home, The 4th, The Circle, Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse, You're Killing Me, and Eating Out: Drama Camp. He is an alum of The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade theaters in Los Angeles, where he performs regularly. His recent theatre credits include parodies of Troop Beverly Hills, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Golden Girls. He's an Outfest award winner, one of OUT magazine's Out 100, and host of a new podcast, Drew Droege's Minor Revelations on Feral Audio.
The Cast of DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! will also feature: Pat Towne, Julanne Chidi Hill, Gina Torrecilla, Andrew Carter and Tom Detrinis.
DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! has assembled an award-winning design team with set design by Pete Hickok, lighting design by Matthew Brian Denman, costume design by Allison Dillard, sound design by ReBecca Kessin, and properties design by Michael O'Hara. Megan Brister is the stage manager with assistant direction by Daniel Montgomery. DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! is produced by Erinn Anova.

DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! is EXTENDING ONE LAST TIME through Saturday, April 22 at Celebration Theatre @ the Lex Theatre, 6760 Lexington Ave. in Los Angeles.
Performances are Thursdays, Friday & Saturday evenings at 8pm; Sundays at 2pm
(with no performance on Sunday, April 16).
